Biography

Luis Menendez-Aponte, B.C.S., Esq., is a Senior Partner and Practice Chair of the Auto & Fleet Liability Practice Group. He is an expert in Civil Trial and Board Certified by The Florida Bar. Luis is a seasoned trial attorney with extensive experience defending high-exposure liability claims throughout Florida. His practice focuses on general liability, automobile liability, negligent security, trucking and transportation litigation, premises liability, and complex bodily injury matters. Fluent in Spanish, Luis provides bilingual representation to clients throughout the state.

With more than two decades of litigation experience, Luis has built a reputation for delivering strategic, results-driven representation to insurers, self-insured entities, businesses, and transportation clients. Since beginning his legal career in 2004, he has successfully tried more than 40 jury trials to verdict in both civil and criminal courts, giving clients the advantage of a proven courtroom advocate with substantial trial experience.

Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Luis practiced at a statewide litigation defense firm and served as staff counsel for a major insurance carrier, where he handled a broad spectrum of personal injury, property damage, P.I.P., and suspected fraudulent insurance claims. Working closely with Special Investigations Units (SIU), he conducted extensive Examinations Under Oath (EUOs), coordinated complex claim investigations, and developed effective litigation and fraud-defense strategies designed to mitigate exposure and control claim costs.

Luis began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, where he rose to the position of Division Chief. In that role, he prosecuted serious felony and homicide cases while supervising felony division attorneys—experience that sharpened his litigation skills, investigative approach, and command of courtroom advocacy.

In addition to his litigation practice, Luis is an approved instructor for adjuster continuing education through the Florida Department of Financial Services. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and industry seminars for attorneys, claims professionals, adjusters, and SIU personnel on topics including claim investigation, pre-suit evaluation, insurance fraud, staged accident investigations, EUOs, and SIU strategies and best practices.

Luis obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Florida International University and earned his Juris Doctor from Florida State University. Luis is admitted in Florida (2004) and to the Southern, Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.
