Biography

Zoe E. Nelson, Esq., is a Senior Associate in the Stuart office. Her practice focuses on litigation involving general liability, premises liability, motor vehicle and trucking accidents, construction and job site accidents, wrongful death, third party and indemnification actions, medical malpractice, and alternative living facility matters.

Zoe has been part of multiple trial teams that secured complete defense verdicts in high-exposure matters, including wrongful death. She has authored, argued, and won numerous dispositive motions. Zoe possesses a practical, results-oriented practice grounded in early case evaluation, disciplined motion practice, and careful damages analysis. She works closely with clients and claims professionals to evaluate liability, causation, medical billing, and exposure, with a focus on translating complex facts and legal issues into clear strategies and recommendations.

Zoe co-authored the firm’s client alert on the recent amendments to Florida’s Rules of Civil Procedure addressing and interpreting in a digestible manner the new trial deadlines, case management obligations, discovery changes, and summary judgment practice. The article highlighted the implications of the amendments and provided practical recommendations for clients and claims professionals in the handling of their claims moving forward. Zoe has also expertly applied Florida’s tort reform laws into successful motion practice, showcasing her ability to quickly understand and adapt her practice to best advocate for her clients.

Before law school, Zoe was a competitive tennis player and competed throughout the southern region of the U.S. She went on to compete as a Division II athlete for Rollins College. In high school at Dr. Phillips High School, she led her team to achieving the State Champion runner-up in the 4A division. Zoe is a recipient of numerous awards, including the Donnelly Award, highlighting her outstanding work ethic, sportsmanship, and competitive mind-set. Zoe has expertly translated the skills and experience she attained as an athlete into her current practice as a litigation attorney making a formidable opponent.

Zoe earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a minor in Economics from Rollins College (2018). While at Rollins, she competed on the women’s tennis team. Following her undergraduate studies, Zoe obtained a Juris Doctor from Florida State University College of Law (2022). As a law student, she served as a Staff Editor for the prestigious Florida State University Law Review as well as the Business Review journal. Zoe was a summer law clerk for the Nineteenth Judicial Circuit Court where she observed numerous trials and hearings, drafted orders, and performed legal research on complex issues. During her 3L year, Zoe served as a Student Advocate for FSU’s Public Interest Law Center’s Children’s Advocacy Clinic.

Zoe is a member of the Texas and Florida Bar (2023).
