Biography
Julia D. Bates, Esq., is a Senior Associate in the Fort Myers office. She focuses her practice on premises liability, automobile negligence, general liability, homeowners association, condominium association and trucking liability matters. Julia also handles product liability, commercial litigation, construction defect and roadway construction cases.
Prior to joining the firm, Julia was employed by an insurance defense firm in New York handling premises liability, auto liability, general liability, product liability, roadway construction, and trucking liability cases. She has served as lead counsel in numerous matters and brings extensive experience to all phases of litigation. Julia has successfully represented clients in state and federal court, as well as in alternative dispute resolution forums. Julia is known for her ability to navigate high-stakes situations with confidence and clarity, and her diligence in case preparation ensures that clients are well-represented from initial pleadings through trial or settlement.
With a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Cybersecurity and Data Privacy, Julia is particularly well-equipped to assist in addressing emerging legal challenges in the digital space including regulatory compliance, incident response, and data governance. Her corporate and regulatory practice includes advising companies on compliance with state and federal privacy laws, data breach response, and risk management strategies.
Julia earned a Bachelor of Arts from Ithaca College with a double major in Legal Studies and Philosophy and a minor in Health Policy, graduating cum laude (2018). She obtained a Juris Doctor from Albany Law School graduating cum laude (2020). Julia received an L.L.M. from Albany Law School in Cyber Security and Data Privacy graduating magna cum laude (2021). While in law school, she interned for the Offices of the New York State Inspector General and the Tompkins County District Attorney’s Office.
Julia is admitted in New York (2022) and Florida (2023). She is also admitted in the United States District Court for the Western District of New York (2022).
