Biography
Patrick D. Hinchey, Esq., is a Senior Partner in the Jacksonville office and serves as Co-Chair of the firm’s Construction Defect team. Patrick is an expert in Construction Law and is Board Certified in Construction Law by the Florida Bar since 2016. Patrick focuses his practice on complex, multiparty construction defect litigation involving both residential and commercial projects throughout Florida.
Patrick has extensive experience handling construction claims from inception through resolution, including pre-suit investigations, discovery, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, trials, and appeals. He has supervised and directly managed hundreds of construction defect matters and is recognized for his practical, strategic approach to resolving highly technical disputes. He also played a key role in building the Jacksonville office’s construction defect practice from a single-attorney operation into a dedicated team of attorneys and legal professionals serving a broad range of clients in the construction and insurance industries.
Known for his client-focused representation, Patrick works closely with insurers, adjusters, contractors, and businesses to develop tailored litigation and risk-management strategies. His approach emphasizes early claim evaluation, cost-effective defense management, strategic use of expert consultants, and identification of additional insurance and risk transfer opportunities to work to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
Patrick earned his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Georgia (1991). He obtained his Juris Doctor from the Florida Coastal School of Law, cum laude, 2007. Patrick is admitted in Florida (2007). He is admitted in Georgia (2008).
