Biography
Dawn E. George, Esq., is a Senior Associate in the Tampa office. She has more than 17 years of litigation experience. Dawn focuses her practice on general liability, labor and employment, retail liability, premises liability, condominium & homeowners’ association, administrative law, and sexual misconduct liability matters. She enjoys helping clients navigate complex legal challenges with practical and effective solutions. Dawn also represents clients in employment practices liability (EPL), directors and officers (D&O) liability, sexual misconduct liability, and insurance coverage disputes.
Dawn defends claims against individuals, corporations, and insurers in state and federal courts in the Tampa Bay area. She handles cases involving allegations of sexual misconduct, Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family Medical Leave Act, and claims made under federal and Florida anti-discrimination laws such as 42 USC §§ 1981 and 1983. Dawn argued a case before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals which resulted in her client’s dismissal from the suit.
Prior to joining the firm, she worked at an insurance defense firm, where she gained valuable experience in general liability, retail liability, employment law, general liability, and condominium and homeowners’ association cases. A significant portion of her career was in the public sector, with the Attorney General’s Office, where she represented institutions of higher learning in U.S. Department of Education Title IX and sex discrimination investigations, employee grievances, discrimination claims, free speech and academic freedom claims, student Privacy (FERPA) claims, and labor and employment matters.
Dawn earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, graduating cum laude, from West Virginia University (2003), majoring in History and minoring in English Literature. During her undergraduate studies, she also attended the College of William & Mary (2002) as a visiting student. She was a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Phi Alpha Theta. Dawn obtained a Juris Doctor from West Virginia University College of Law (2007). While in law school, she was a member of the Lugar Trial Association and competed as part of a national moot court team.
Dawn is admitted in Florida (2018) and West Virginia (2008). She is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia (2008), United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida (2022) and United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida (2023).
