Biography
Katherine N. Kmiec, Esq., is a Senior Partner in the Orlando office. With more than 20 years of litigation experience, Kate focuses on general liability, government liability, premises liability, automobile negligence, trucking liability, negligent security, and wrongful death matters. She also brings experience handling complex products liability cases, including matters involving foreign manufacturers and insurers. Her overall practice has focused on early evaluation of cases to determine both effective and cost-conscious results while developing individualized case strategies.
Katherine began her carrier as a United Stated Navy Judge Advocate General, handling Courts Martial, administrative hearings and providing legal assistance. As part of that experience, Katherine was assigned as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Middle District of Florida, prosecuting civilians who committed crimes on federal exclusive property. After temporary assignment to U.S, Naval Base Guantanamo Bay, Katherine became a member of the informal “Guantanamo Bay Bar Association.”
Katherine received a Bachelor of Arts from Goucher College (1998). She obtained a Juris Doctor from Tulane University (2001), with a certificate in Admiralty and Maritime Law. Additionally, Katherine earned a Masters of Public Administration from Penn State in 2013 focusing on national security issues.
Katherine is admitted to Florida (2002) and District of Columbia (2008). She is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Middle (2008) and Southern (2012) Districts of Florida.
