Biography
Monica L. Irel, Esq., is a Senior Partner in the Miami office. She is a career litigator, focusing her practice on complex general liability, personal injury, premises liability, bad faith, trucking, sexual misconduct liability and wrongful death cases. She also handles commercial litigation, environmental, toxic tort, asbestos, COVID-19 liability, product liability, negligent employment and insurance litigation matters. Monica is fluent in Spanish.
Monica began her career practicing law as in a Los Angeles, California where she concentrated on personal injury and workers’ compensation cases acquiring considerable courtroom experience. She then moved to a professional and medical malpractice defense practice in Los Angeles before relocating to Miami. Here, Monica spent several years working with a firm specializing in the defense of aviation and transportation industry clients, gaining extensive trial experience. Most recently, Monica worked in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution group with a multinational law firm, managing its Miami office while litigating a variety of liability cases in state and federal court, including Covid-19 coverage cases, product liability claims, employment disputes and premises liability matters. Monica also participated in the pro bono program as pro bono attorney in Florida’s guardian ad litem program.
Monica earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles (1986). She obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Southern California School of Law, graduating cum laude (1989).
Monica is admitted in Florida (1998) and California (1989). She is admitted to the Supreme Court of Florida (1998), the Supreme Court of California (1989), the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh (1998) and Ninth (1989) Circuits. Monica is also admitted in the United States District Court for the Southern (2000), Middle (1999) and Northern (2020) Districts of Florida, as well as the United States District Court for the Central District of California (1989).
