Biography
Michael T. Lee, Esq., is a veteran trial attorney and Senior Partner in the Boston office. He has tried more 50 cases to verdict in both civil and criminal litigation matters. Michael’s practice is devoted to complex civil litigation with a particular focus on product liability, toxic torts, construction defect, commercial disputes, bad faith, premises liability, negligent security and unfair and deceptive trade practices cases. He also handles trucking negligence, automobile negligence, boating, liquor liability, professional liability and insurance coverage matters.
Prior to joining the firm, Michael practiced maritime litigation at a leading admiralty firm in Seattle, where he defended commercial fishing companies and cruise lines against personal injury and wrongful death claims. He also handled complex commercial disputes, advised businesses and insurers on contractual matters and coverage issues, and assessed risk for corporate clients with multi-jurisdictional exposures. Michael served on the Board of Directors of a Seattle-based maritime insurance association.
Michael also practiced law at a nationally recognized criminal defense firm. He defended only the most serious felonies and tried to verdict dozens of high-profile cases in both federal and state courts. Several of his cases garnered national media attention, including an aggravated murder trial that was featured on Dateline NBC. Michael then relocated to Massachusetts where he handled the defense of construction defect, professional liability, product liability, toxic tort, premises liability, negligent security, trucking and automobile negligence and liquor liability matters.
Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Portland State University, graduating magna cum laude (2008). He was the recipient of the Economics’ Faculty Award for distinguished achievement. Michael obtained a Juris Doctor degree from California Western School of Law in San Diego (2011) where he focused his studies on maritime/admiralty law, and interned several semesters with the San Diego Public Defender’s Office.
Michael is admitted in Massachusetts (2017) and Washington (2011). He is also admitted in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts (2017) and the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington (2012).
