Biography

Jonah Kaplan, Esq., is a Senior Partner in the Fort Lauderdale office. He is a member of the general liability and first party litigation teams. Jonah has been practicing law for over a decade at various private practices handling first and third party litigation for accounting and legal malpractice, commercial disputes, general liability, and premises liability matters. He represents insurers, homeowner’s associations, businesses, contractors, and commercial entities in high-exposure litigation involving catastrophic injury, wrongful death, fraud investigations, premises liability, construction disputes, and first-party property claims.

Jonah is focused on client communication and alleviating the stresses of litigation. His is driven by early strategic planning and objective analysis to determine the cost/benefits of litigation. Jonah has successfully handled matters involving serious bodily injury, construction-related claims, and special investigations concerning insurance fraud. Jonah particularly enjoys depositions, with the goal of eliciting testimony to posture for summary judgment.

Jonah brings solid financial experience as a former CPA, where he worked for Fortune 500 accounting and consulting firms. Here he honed his skills on the minutiae of litigation and the key facts that can change the dynamics of a case.

Jonah has significant litigation experience having handled appeals in the Fourth District Court of Appeals of Florida stemming from the trial court’s granting summary judgment upholding policy provisions capping damages on a homeowner’s policy. The appeals have significant ramifications on insurance carrier’s homeowner’s policies.

Jonah earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting graduating summa cum laude from Touro College in Brooklyn, NY. He obtained a Juris Doctor from Florida State University, cum laude. While attending law school, Jonah was a legal intern for the office of the United States Senator Mel Martinez.

Jonah is admitted in Florida (2008). He is admitted to the United States District Court for the Southern (2012) and Middle (2016) Districts of Florida.
